With all the chaos reigning over Europe during WW2 all the Germans needed was a clown like Hapen. Now lets be fair here, this guy takes no S&$£ from anyone, including his own superiors, but as a Gestapo Officer this dude is a complete joke! By the look of things he is in charge of all "the disrupt activities in the area" and he is to be informed "at once" if anything is out of the usual, especially around the small town of Werfen where he is stationed. Now whether this guy is just useless or is misinformed at every given moment is up for debate, but by the looks of it, his soldiers seem to be badly trained and the worst shots in the German army too, which doesn't help his credit!
What's worse, is Von Hapen happens to be in charge of the security of the local stronghold - The Schloss Adler - an impregnable fortress on a mountain top where, "fake" British, General Carnaby is being questioned to obtain info about the second front. However unknown to Hapen is that several British agents have infiltrated the castle with their own mission to free the General and discover who the German spies are working in Britain.
Also helping the British agents is Mary Elison who is posing as the castles female secretary - Hapen getting suspicious, takes her to dinner. He suspects she maybe a liar and goes to confront Carneby and the other German superiors in the dining hall, where they are being held hostage by the agents. Hapen tries his best bless him, to arrest them all, but is shot dead by agent, Lt. Morris Schaffer.
