Jerry Dandrige

Fright Night film series (1985)

Jerry Dandridge becomes the new neighbour to Charley Brewster, a teenage horror movie fan. As they are moving in Brewster notices them to carrying what appears to be a coffin. Charley shrugs this off until he sees his new neighbor biting the neck of a young woman.

Charley decides to seek the help of his hero, the veteran vampire movie star and horror host Peter Vincent. Vincent of course believes that Charley is nothing more than an obsessed fan and conspires with Amy, Ed and Dandridge to prove to Charley that Dandridge is not a vampire by having Dandridge drink fake holy water in front of him. Charley still thinks that his neighbor is a vampire, but he decides that it's time to back down. On the way out of Dandridge's house, Vincent opens up a cigarette case and sees that Dandridge doesn't cast a reflection in the mirror. He and the kids hurry out and Vincent tells Charley what he saw. Vincent flees to his home while Charley and Ed walk Amy home. On the way, Ed decides to leave them to take a shortcut, where he meets Dandridge (who had found a broken piece of the mirror with which Vincent had discovered his secret) and is bitten, becoming a vampire and slave to Dandridge.Ed then proceeds to visit Vincent, who willingly opens the door. Ed tells Vincent that he is not the great vampire slayer everyone says he is. Vincent then grabs a cross and burns him on the forehead with it but Evil Ed escapes.

Dandridge then begins to chase Charley and Amy, the latter whom reminds him of his dead lover. They seek refuge in a nightclub where Charley tries to call Peter Vincent for help, but Vincent is still shaken from what he saw, as well as an attack from Ed. Meanwhile, Dandridge uses his vampire powers to hypnotize Amy and the two dance together. Charley sees them kissing and tries to punch Dandridge, but gets his hand nearly broken. Seeing this, bouncers try to throw the three out, but Dandridge kills them. He seizes Amy again and escapes with Charley following.

Charley rushes to Peter Vincent's apartment and convinces him to help him kill Dandridge. The two enter the vampire's home armed with stakes and crosses. Charley is knocked out by Dandridge's bodyguard and Vincent runs next door to warn Charley's mother, but meets Ed instead. Ed turns into a wolf and attacks Vincent, but he is staked by a broken stair banister.

Back at Dandridge's home, the vampire deposits Charley's unconscious body in a locked room where Amy lies, also unconscious, going through her vampire transformation, as she had been bitten before. Dandridge leaves Charley to lament his fallen girlfriend and Peter Vincent arrives to save the two teenagers. He breaks down the door and he and Charley ward off Dandridge with crosses. The vampire's bodyguard, who is neither human nor vampire, attacks them but is killed by Charley. The two of them corner Dandridge in front of a window with their crosses while the sun begins to rise, but he transforms into a bat and flees to his coffin in the basement. Charley and Vincent give chase and break open the vampire's coffin. Vincent pounds a stake into his chest while Amy attacks Charley on Dandridge's orders. Dandridge rises and pulls the stake out of his chest and throws it across the room, breaking a hole in the black-painted windows, revealing a stream of sunlight. Knowing what to do, Charley and Peter break open the windows, vanquishing Dandridge and breaking his spell over Amy.
